Selection and ordering notes
In a weld neck flange the pipe is joined to the end of the tapered hub with a butt weld. Stress decreases gradually along the hub, which makes it the standard choice for high pressure, high temperature and vibrating lines. The weld is single and fully radiographable.
The hub bore is machined to the pipe schedule, so the schedule must be stated on the order. Class 2500 is the highest pressure class in the standard and appears mostly in drilling, high pressure process and test lines. See weld neck or slip-on for the details.
