Valve selection starts with function: isolation, flow control, backflow prevention or pressure relief. Ball, butterfly and gate valves handle isolation; globe and control valves handle modulation; check valves and safety relief valves protect the system.
Once the function is fixed, body material, pressure class, end connection, seat leakage class and actuation follow. Fire safe and fugitive emission certificates should be requested separately in flammable and toxic service. Use the list on the left for the individual valve groups.
