A blind flange is a solid flange with no bore that closes the line completely. It is used for line termination, maintenance isolation, pressure testing and capping spare outlets.
Because pressure acts on the whole face it is thicker than other types of the same size and class, so stud length is calculated differently. RTJ faces are frequently specified from class 600 upwards, and gasket and stud selection must follow that form. See what is a blind flange for the details.
