Applications and selection notes
In isolation duty a valve works either fully open or fully closed; what matters is low pressure drop and reliable shut off. Ball valves operate quickly and give full bore, gate valves offer low pressure drop in large sizes, and butterfly valves save space and weight.
Cycling frequency, solids content, the required seat leakage class and actuation drive the choice. Request fire safe certification in flammable service and an ISO 15848 class where emissions matter.
