Applications and selection notes
A control valve does not simply open or close a line; it continuously regulates flow, pressure or temperature. Selection starts from process data rather than body style: minimum, normal and maximum flow, inlet and outlet pressure, fluid properties and the allowable noise level.
From these, Cv is calculated and the characteristic curve (linear, equal percentage) and trim type are set. Where cavitation or flashing is possible, multi stage trim is required. Actuator and positioner selection follows the same calculation.
